Luca Savarino is an accomplished jazz tenor saxophonist known for his colorful tone and inspired improvisational ability. In the fall of 2023, Luca was named a winner in the YoungArts jazz competition. Most recently, Luca was named 1st Chair tenor saxophone for the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, which played at the Monterey Jazz Festival (CA) in September, 2024. From the Harrisburg area, Luca has played throughout the years in the PMEA All-State Jazz Band, the District 7 Jazz Band, the Central PA High School All-Star Big Band, and the Inspire Big Band (York). With his quartet he has also performed at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse, the Central PA Friends of Jazz (CPFJ) Jazz Walk, the CPFJ Jazz Camp at Messiah University, the Dallastown (PA) Jazz Festival, and a number of other venues in central Pennsylvania.
Luca currently attends the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Nicole Glover. His former teacher is Curt Sipe (Chicago; sax and piano) – additional studies with Tim Warfield and Kirk Reese.
